The Atmosphere of the Home

Many ideas have been swirling around in my mind regarding potential blog posts.  While I think there are many interesting and pertinent topics to discuss, I have felt led to begin here.  You see, the atmosphere of the home is a foundation upon which the faithful family is built.  A family will have difficulty surviving let alone thriving in faithfulness unless Continue reading

Sharing what I was delivered from – The Flood Model

As I was working today on lesson 5 – The Flood for the Old Testament Survey, I paid particular attention to the language that was used to describe the old world before the flood.  It seems that God does not want us to know too many details. Continue reading

The Gospel – What must I do to be saved?

What must I do to be saved?  That was the question that the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas in Acts 16:30.  Verse 31 says, “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

A friend asked me a while back if there was a difference between believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.  I think there is enough of a difference to comment on and I think salvation is an important enough subject to explore what does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Here is how you earn this most lusted after crown: Continue reading

Added Pages

Today, I started adding pages to our blog.  I started adding pages about the use of numbers in the Bible.  I will try to add at least one page per day.  I hope all who read our blog will find helpful study aids in the pages of our blog.  God bless,

George

Welcome to Our Blog!

We are George and Benita Wicks. We are so excited to begin this blog. We see it as a place of ministry to which God has called us and we pray that God will be glorified and honored throughout this ministry.

We pray that this blog will be a source of encouragement and information to families as you seek to be faithful to God and His will for your lives. We don’t claim to have “arrived” as the faithful family, rather we are on the journey as well striving to be faithful and hope to encourage others along the way.

I, Benita, hope to have posts on practical issues that effect the day to day running of your households. Look for posts on menu planning, cleaning plans, organizational ideas, scheduling, home educating, and all things related to keeping your household humming along. Because we all know that while these things at first may not seem of eternal significance, it is difficult to do the greater things of God when you can’t find anything, nothing is getting done, and no one has clean socks!

I will chime in from time to time on more “spiritual issues” regarding biblical womanhood and our relationship with God and those He puts in our path.

My goals (George) in using this blog as part of our ministry are to exalt the name of Jesus Christ, to use it as a tool to teach, interpret and apply the scriptures, to encourage the saints, and give information about ministries of ours and others. This website will be a work in progress as I continually add teaching pages to be resources for bible study.

I think it is important for all who read this blog to know that we, Benita and George, have been born again by trusting in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone. We believe in the inerrancy, the preservation, and the sufficiency of the scriptures. May the Lord Jesus Christ receive glory, honor, and praise in all we do!!!
